Dental Hygiene Workshop

Here are some photos from the Dental Hygiene Workshop we went to last week. The nurses told us how many spoons of sugar there was in each of our favourite foods. They also taught us the correct way to brush our teeth. We got a free toothbrush, a sticker and a certificate for taking part.

Hip Hop with Fabienne

Today we went to Hip-Hop with Fabienne. It was very fun and we are all tired after dancing for half an hour non-stop!

Presentation of Irish Flag and HSE Healthy Schools Flag

Last week, our school received two new flags. First, we got the Irish National Flag from the Army. The sergeants told us a little bit about what happened in 1916 and we were allowed to ask them questions. The Mayor of Galway, Frank Fahy came to visit for the ceremony. Niamh read out a paragraph from the proclamation and we sang the national anthem; Amhrán na bhFiann. We also received the HSE's Healthy Schools flag. We are the first school in Galway to get this flag! Our health promotion officers were Sian and Tess.

Maths Trail, Visit to Santa's Grotto and the Christmas Market

Here are a few photos from the Maths Trail we took part in last December. We walked to town and had to answer some Maths questions along the way. In town, we visited Santa's Grotto. We listened to a few stories from the elves and we even got to see Santa himself! We sang a few Christmas carols and went to the Christmas market to finish our Maths Trail. We got the bus back to school from Eyre Square. It was a fantastic day!

Halloween Games

Today we learned about and played some different Halloween games. We played; bobbing for apples, apple on a string and telling the future. Here are some pictures of us playing these traditional Halloween games. Our teacher also carved a spooky pumpkin for the classroom!

Engineer Visit

On Wednesday the 21st of October, Shane Kelly (a software engineer from AVAYA) came in to talk to us about engineering and programming. We learned a lot from him and he even showed us some cool new tricks on Scratch.

Drama Workshop
